writing a blog post

blogThe most powerful tool in your marketing arsenal is your knowledge of your business. When clients ask me, what can I do to optimize my site for the search engines, my first response is, “Write a blog.”

Let me back up. Last December I went to a Wordcamp conference. One of the sessions was on blogging for business, and it was very interested. There were a lot of statistics about blogging covered, and I started to wonder, “Could it really be that big of a deal?” So starting January 1st, we started blogging daily. That’s right, every single day we’d write one blog post of 500 words or less. The result? After one month, traffic to our site was up 200%. After five months, traffic to our site was up 350%. Not just an increase in traffic, but an increase in leads as well. I was floored by the difference.

And all I had to do was write about stuff that I already know. How easy is that?

It’s actually very easy. You login, you write a post, you publish it. The hard part is making time to do it. After our little experiment, we realized that it would be a waste of time and money to NOT write blog posts. So now we do. Maybe not everyday anymore, but at least four days a week you’ll see new content here.

Content is King. The absolute best way to draw traffic to your site is with fresh, new content. And you are the expert on your business. What do you know? What can you share? Every new blog post is rich with keywords that can draw visitors to your site.
