1) Write searchable posts
This means you will need to know a little about search engine optimization, or SEO. You can search Google about blog SEO, and find tons of information. But if you want help, there are many WordPress plugins about there than assist you. Yoast is one we like here at Sumy Designs. This plugin allows you to test your post content for usage and focus keywords and grades you with red, yellow and green lights so you can adjust your content before you go live.
2) Be consistent (and have patience)
It’s hard to write something when you don’t feel like writing, but consistency is what brings you readers. The more you post the more chances you have that your words will spread through the internet, which will increase your chances of new viewers. Decide if you are going to blog one day a week, twice a week or every single day and stick to it for a good amount of time and you’ll notice an increase in traffic. Your increase won’t happen overnight, but it will happen. Need a few blogging ideas, start here.
3) Break the rules
Pick a controversial topic and write about it. Include your personal opinions, which will entice your audience to comment on the topic. Thoughtfully engage with your audience and be respectful of their opinions. It’s fun to break the rules because breaking the rules isn’t boring. Be honest and interesting and let the words fly.
4) Get social
The social media outlets are more valuable and sophisticated than they were even just a few years ago. But be mindful that the social part of social media because it isn’t just about just reposting your blog link to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.; it is about sharing and engaging in conversations. You will learn a lot from the responses and get great ideas for future posts.
