Chicago

wcchiThis weekend, Susan and I had the privilege to attend Wordcamp Chicago. This is our second Wordcamp we’ve attended, and it was yet another great experience. What I love about going to Wordcamps is that you meet many great people in the WordPress community, all people who use and love WordPress. But what I love more is that there are so many people who use it differently. You have designers, you have developers, you have business users. All people who come together to learn more and share their knowledge.

There were many standout sessions over the weekend, but one that really stands out for me, as always, is the security sessions with Tony Perez from Sucuri. If you don’t know about Sucuri, then I recommend you learn more. This is the industry standard for security and these guys know what they are talking about. I saw a similar presentation in Las Vegas, and I was just as impressed. What was exciting for me this time was that after seeing the session, I felt like I was on top of security with my site and with my clients’s sites, and that I really feel like I have a current understanding of the issues we are facing with security in the WordPress community. My excited tweet after the session:

There were many other standout sessions including sessions on design, sessions on development, and many sessions on streamlining the process. I really liked meeting so many different people, both one-person operations and employees of larger firms. It’s a great experience, and I can’t wait to go to another Wordcamp!
