Your website is your best marketing tool and it is always a good idea to take a look at your existing logo and website every now then and ask yourself if your site looks dated or not as good as your competitor’s site and logo design.

Here are a few questions you can use as a guide to determine if it is time to redesign:

Is your logo still modern and recognizable in your industry?

Was your logo a do-it-yourself logo but looked great once upon a time? Or maybe your design was created with a storefront only look in mind? Either way, your logo is the face of your business and it makes you stand apart from your competitors and be recognizable to your clients and within your industry. Make sure your logo isn’t too long or complex and works well on your website and as an icon on social media pages.

Is your website unique in your field?

Take a look at your competitor’s sites and compare your design with theirs. Does your site look different enough to stand out from the crowd? If not you should consider updating your design so that you can outshine the competition.

Is your website cluttered?

If you aren’t sure, then the answer is probably yes. It is easy to keep adding things we think are essential to the home page but we forget to look at the overall design. Less is always more when designing a website. You want your website to be clean, professional and easy to navigate. Adding too much is a distraction and takes away from the natural flow of browsing.

Has your brand, products or values changed?

Good business is constantly changing and evolving in the modern world and it is easy to overlook the small things. Take a look at your website and logo and decide if your content or design needs updating. These are small things but can make a world of difference in marketing.

Can your clients find your social media links?

If you are on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or any other social media venue, then you need to make sure that your clients can easily find your links on your home page. Social media is an important part of any small business marketing plan and easy access to those links through your website should be at the top of your marketing list.

Are you using your blog?

If you started a blog and haven’t been keeping it up to date you might want to consider reviving it or turning it off. It is important to make sure your clients know that your small business is current and up-to-date. Besides, blogging is great for SEO.
