Hiring a small team for your WordPress website

When it comes to website design and development, there are a lot of choices. There are huge companies with lots of employees, big offices and big fees. Then on the flip side, you have new freelancers working solo out of coffee shops or off-shore developers working for a fraction of the cost and then there’s everyone in between.

At Sumy Designs, we are a small agency. We work from our home offices and our team is small. But don’t be mistaken that because we’re small that we can’t do great things. There are many reasons why hiring a small team is a great idea.

• You don’t get lost in the shuffle. It’s true that many hands make light work, but it’s also true that the more people involved in a project, the more time it can take to get it finished. If you’ve ever been on a 10 person committee you’ll have experienced this. When your project is passed from department to department to get completed, and you never know where it is or who is working on it, it’s easy to feel neglected or lost. And when your big company has 50 projects going on at once, it can be easy to get overlooked. Since we’re small, we know all of our clients and at what stage each project is in. We’re communicating daily about all of our projects big and small.
• A personal touch. We get to know our clients. Do you want to feel like the person you are working with cares about your project and not just getting paid? That’s us. We don’t take jobs “just for the money” because when you do, you don’t perform your best. We want you to succeed, and if our goals align with your goals, the outcome will always be the best. We want to know about your business, your customers, and what drives you to do what you do so we can help drive customers to your website.
• Clarity. Have you ever played the telephone game? You start a sentence on one end, then see what it sounds like when the last person hears it? It’s funny, until your project is the subject of a game of telephone. When you have a large team of people working on one project, that vision you had can get muddled as it transitions from one person to the next. A small team prevents this kind of issue.
• Communication. When you have an issue, you know who you need to email. You don’t have to wade through support tickets or listen to touch tone commands on the phone to find the right department. We ARE the right department. When you work with us, you’re working with Susan and Amy and perhaps some of the support team, but you’ll know us personally. You don’t have to introduce yourself when you send an email because we’ll know who you are.

It’s a big step to find a company to work on your website. It’s confusing because there are so many choices, so many excellent options, but also scary because all those options are so different. We may not always be the right fit for every business, but our small team is a great fit for many companies and we love working with clients who are looking for a more personal experience when it comes to their online presence.
